Domain Age and How it Affects SEO

Domain age refers to the age of the site, i.e. from when that particular page has been in existence.

People have varied opinions of whether the domain age really affects the Search Engine Ranking of a site. Those that are pro this opinion, say that the domain age definitely enhances the ranking of a certain page. They say that it depends on domain age s ONE of the attributes because the older a site, the more the trustworthy it gets. This does not hold true only for humans, but the Search Bots as well. The more trustworthy your site, the higher it ranks on any search engine.

What you could do to use this attribute to this advantage is that you could reserve the domain earlier before actually putting up the information that goes on it. That way, your domain has been up for pretty long. Another thing that you could do to use this attribute to your advantage is that when you register for a longer time than a shorter time, the trustworthiness goes up.

Having said this, those who do not hold this view say that while it is true, that sometimes domain Age is an attribute to good SEO, quality and trustworthiness can be deceptively built as well. In the case of if the domain is one that has been taken over from an old site, it must be remembered that the history and the associations need to be negated for a fresh start, which could pose quite a challenge.

In conclusion, having a site where the registration date is from much before it actually goes live can’t really hurt, but expecting too much from just this attribute is foolhardy.
