Back to the Basics: Copywriting for SEO

Copywriting for SEO is a process where text is written in such a way that it reads well for the surfer, and also targets specific search terms to rank highly in the search engines for the targeted search terms. The whole deal with SEO copywriting is the creation of pages with actual content and information, rather than a random page with nothing but keywords scattered around in the page.

One of the major advantages of copywriting specifically for SEO is the fact that those pages rank well in search engines, although no page can do equally well in different search engines. The more unique the content is, the better the chances of that page going higher and ranking better on search engines. Internal linking has the power to get the audience to various pages of your website

There are three things essentially that allow for any work to be categorized good SEO copywriting or not:

  • There is the right number of search terms in the content and the page in not overloaded with the search terms. When this happens, the readers are put off by what is in front of them and the purpose of writing is defeated.
  • The search terms range from low to middle end of competitiveness. This implies that the number of results for that particular word are less and so your page will rank higher rather than when you use a word that has high competition.
  • Keyword Stuffing is the practice where the keyword density is very high. It is an amateur mistake that can and should be avoided. When there is a high keyword density, it is understood that the page was meant for the search engines rather than people. This is bad SEO copywriting.

Copywriting for SEO is not as tough as it seems, neither is it simple. All you need to do is  keep an eye for the issues above, and you are all set!
