NO CAPCHAS: Let’s face it, as often as CAPCHAs work perfectly to block the unwanted mails and spams, they are also more often than not block the people you WANT as your customers, using your services. Let go of the CAPCHAs and you will probably see an increase in the number of forms that get filled.
NO CANCEL BUTTON: Having a cancel button next to the submit button is like asking the almost convinced if they want to actually use the service or product.
NO CLEAR BUTTON: Having a CLEAR button is also a risk of sorts. What if your user pushes the clear button instead of the submit button, the chances of that user going back to fill out the form again, is low. This just means that when that happens, it is another potential customer lost.
NO UNNECESSARY FIELDS: Where there is no need for a particular question, don’t ask it! This means less number of fields to fill in the form, less clutter and a larger possibility of it getting filled. When the number of fields get reduced, the form itself seems less daunting to the user.
NO COMPLICATED NAVIGATION TECHNIQUES: When the navigation between the different pages of the form is simple, it makes it convenient for the user to go back and forth, to check or change errors. Also when this gets convenient, the temptation of leaving the form half filled is reduced.
NO VAGUE ERROR MESSAGES: When there is a case of missing information, i.e. a particular field has not been filled by the user, rather than confuse the user further by having a vague error message like ‘please fill all the required fields’, a clearer message like: ‘Please enter date of birth’ will be appreciated.
